| Should you be in the market to buy a house, you might be concerned with the condition of the home you intend to make an offer on. A home inspector doing a general home inspection will examine things like the electrical system, plumbing, appliances, check for moisture and possibly take a look at the roof. Even though you will be provided with an extensive written report it is always a good idea to take a few hours and attend the inspection. At that time you will follow the inspector as he examines the home and he will explain what he's doing and what he sees. You will also be able to ask (and are expected to ask) questions about the home and the systems as the inspection progresses. |  |
Other inspection options include wood infestation, radon, the presence of lead based paint, mold, water and septic. Your choice of inspections will depend on your expertise in any given field, your comfort level regarding general repairs depending on what you see, the advice of your Realtor and possibly your lender. A little advice regarding your Agreement of Sale. It is time sensitive! You and your Realtor will need the inspection report in order to make an informed decision for your "Reply to Inspection" that gets passed along to the seller. So bring your checkbook along and pay for the report right away.
